The Global Yeshiva will soon be updating its software to offer podcasting. I just wanted to jump the gun to get everyone thinking about expanding in the world of podcasting.

Rav Mitterhoff, Shalom!

Excellent vort! It was really menschlich!
I do remember reading in the Midrash why it was that G-d said ובלב כל חכם לב נתתי חכמה (Shemos, Parashas Ki Tisa). When it was asked by a certain goy, "Why does G-d give wisdom to the wise?" It was replied: "To whom does one loan money? To a poor man whom he knows that he will never reimburse the loan, or to a man that shall make good his payments?" He replied, "To that man who will make restitution." He then answered him: "It is the same with wisdom. G-d gives wisdom to that man who is capable of promulgating that wisdom (Torah), i.e. who will make restitution!"

"The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lo-rd, while knowledge of holy things is understanding," (Proverbs, chapter 9) as King Solomon said. Elsewhere, wisdom has been metaphorically compared to silver coins. As we find written: "The words of the Lo-rd are pure words, [even] refined silver in a crucible, etc." (Psalm 12: 7) So, here, wisdom = Torah (G-d's words) = refined silver = the fear of G-d, are all analogous. You just don't give silver to a man who has no appreciation for it, or a loan to someone who will not pay you back. Israel, on the other hand, has been entrusted with all these! (Just a thought)

Shalom Rabi Mitterhoff:

Thanks for a very inspiring point developed in this podcast.

A feeling of fear as I might think ( please correct me if I am wrong) goes from our feet to our face being risen by our study (rationale) or acquisition of wisdom with study as Chochma of Bina ( Berachoth 60a) " referring to matters of Torah. Well , The fear of sin solely does not connect us with our purpose of life this would be as having fear at our feet.
There must be the Awareness of the Divine Superior existence The Fear of Hashem that would inscribed fear in front of our face Psalm 34:10 " let his body ones fear G-d ".
Berachoth 33b There is a world where the only one baruj hu has only jewelry of fear of heaven.
Once, an individual recognizes that the superior one blessed be he is every where watching over us we lowliness creatures created by the one only to acquire an oath that would allow us to be partners in the creation.
