Parshas Teruma
"I'm so glad you went to visit him in the hospital. Last week, we were talking about doing that." "Did you visit him?" "No, we didn't get around to doing it." The Tanna d'vei Eliyahu writes an incredible idea regarding G-d's commanding Bnai Yisrael to bring donations to the Mishkan (Tabernacle),Shemos 25:2, immediately after their proclaiming "naaseh venishma-we shall do and we shall listen" Shemos 24:7. After you have a great idea or make a commitment, make sure you do it right away!! "The learning of Torah is great because it leads to action."(Kiddushin 40b) Have a great Shabbos !! Dear Rabbi Flom
Occasionally, however, some of my "great ideas", upon thoughtful reflection, turned out not to be quite as great as I originally thought. Ever happen to you? Sincerely, Mark |

Dear Mark,
I agree with you. Obviously, not every thought that goes through my mind is a decision, and certain things need a lot of reflection. However many times, the only thing that prevents us from acting on our ideas is laziness etc. Actually, in my dvar Torah of Ki Sisa, I write about NOT making any major decisions while great turmoil is going on in one's life, because you can't think clearly. I know for myself, that when I am angry, I generally refuse to make a decision because I know that I am not seeing clearly. Thanks. Rabbi Flom |
