"For the next week, I will count to ten before I say anything in
anger."
"He isn't serious about controlling his temper: he just made his
resolution for a week."
"On the contrary, small steps are the only practical way to succeed."

G-d said to Moshe "your days are coming close to death..."(Divorim
31:14) Regarding Pirkei Avos 2:10 "Repent the day before you die", the
Gemara (Shabbos 153a) says the implication is, since we don't know when
we'll die, we must repent today. Someone asked Rav Yechezkel
Levenstein,zt"l, why doesn't it say "repent now because you may die later
today"? He answered that psychologically, while a person is alive and
well, he can't imagine that he'll die today. Therefore, our sages used a
more dynamic example.(Seen in Rav Eliach's "Me'al Shulchan Gevoha")

Being pragmatic is the only way to reach your Rosh Hashana goals.

Have a gut gebenched yahr ( a blessed year ) and a great Shabbos !!

Rabbi Chaim Flom
