Parshas Vayikra

"You think your boss is so great? Well I know first hand that he made a
mistake: He even apologized to me !! I never heard of my boss making a
mistake!!

"When (Hebrew 'asher') a king sins in error... he shall bring a sin
offering." (Vayikra 4:22) Rashi says that "asher" has the connotation of
"fortunate", because "fortunate are the people whose king takes care to
atone for an accidental sin, and certainly a willful one". Many people lack
the self confidence and honesty to fess up to errors they make, especially
when they could have grand illusions of who they are.

What do you do with your mistakes??

Have a great Shabbos !!

Dear Rabbi Flom,
"Many people lack
the self confidence and honesty to fess up to errors they make" What exactly is the connection to self confidence?
Sincerely,
Mark

Dear Mark,
If a person constantly puts down others, it is because they lack self-confidence and feels threatened by anyone who is "better" than him. However if a person has self-confidence, he can live with himself and if he makes a mistake he can do whatever is needed to fix it up, and go on with life. On a related topic, obviously, we all need to improve our ways, but it should always be ina healthy way. In other words, part of teshuva (repentance) is charata, remorse for the bad that I did. If that feeling leads to constructive actions, then my reorse was good. If, however, it causes me to be depressed and "throwing in the towel" because you feel like you are a failure---beware !! that is the yetzer hora speaking. Humility is a great trait, depression is bad.
Take care.
Rabbi Flom
