If I HAD to pick one, I'd say Gemara, but I think it would be very worthwhile to offer ALL the choices you mentioned.

If you see the poll results, Halacha is currently ahead 1-0 Smile

Rabbi,

There is no yeshiva near me, and I would like to further my education in Judaic studies. Are you planning to offer university level training? Do you know of any accredited colleges offering yeshiva training on line?

It is a feeling that a new born before running needs to posses the necessary knowledge to process the complicated uphill facts he would be facing forward once he runs. Therefore, I would be delighted to vote for all choices following a rebbe wisdom advice as what first must be learn in order to acomplish a better understanding of our sages heritage contained in every Torah study.

My 2 cents worth.
I would vote Gemara but, in order to learn it properly, people would need to have access to an electronic Gemara to which everyone can reference. Daf Yomi already does something similar but their Daf approach is not the traditional Gemara learning.
Halacha is useable by everyone and Shulchan Aruch is more accessible to most people than Gemara.

It would seem to me that the Gemara has the potential of captivating the attention of every member on this forum, and it will inevitably lead them also to Halacha.

Sincerely,

Right Shulchan Aruj is very aaccesible through
The Shulchan Aruj lessons from Israel. I am looking over Shiur 42. I feel that this resource is been most helpful to direct the right attitude toward praying an Halaja, of course toward judaism, Nevertheless the physical object as a text book that enable us to feel the pages as one is irreplaceable. E-learning courses should be designed to direct orientation and doubts. The student should go along filling own library with most important study texts.

There may be a technology aid available to enable us to go through some gemara learning at a very slow pace, highlighting a particular line, and discussing it. Not dafyomi pace.

What would be the goal of a gemara learning discussion thread?

Translation of the gemara? Recognizing common abbreviations? Vowelization? Understanding the layout and how to follow citations?

Or perhaps just a summary of the discussion and jumping to a summary of what halacha is decided?

I see that there are more individual people who have commented in this thread then there are people who have voted. If you haven't voted yet, please do so right away Smile Also, if you just happen to read the poll and don't wish to participate in the thread, answer the poll anyway, each vote in the poll counts.

I voted for Mussar as I am particularly interested in drawing out what can lead to my growth and that of other people, in a specific sort of way but tied always to the "theory"/Torah which connects us to Hashem and shows us what heaven feels like.

Shalom Sir.

Sorry for delay.
The course can be found at WWW.Shuljanaruj.com .
One thing, it is written in spanish. I do not know if there is a version in English.

Also,I have found various translations of the Talmud ( gemara-Mishna )on Internet, but I do not know if they are reliable or acceptable as far as the translation is concerned.

Ochoa, I see that this is the Spanish version of the Pirchei Shoshanim Shulchan Aruch Learning Project Shiurim. I have taken a few of the courses in English and also edit several Shiurim that have been translated from Hebrew into English.

Sorry: I thought this was a new thread with a new vote. I voted, then scrolled down and saw it was the same vote I had already done. So, if my vote went in twice, you should remove it.

As for the question on what to study, I would NOT study abbreviations or punctuation or anything like that, but CONTENT, MEANING, AND PURPOSE FOR INCLUSION.

Thanks for listening.
