I just noticed the mazel ratings, and have a comment. I understand going from newbie to novice to interested to serious. I don't know what "Masmid" means (another word not in D'vorah's glossary!), so I'll skip to my point: All the other labels refer to number of times posted. "Public Servant" implies that someone actually is serving the public! That someone is HELPING others - in the case of the online yeshiva, helping them become more spiritual, more Jewish. Yet, if I write a bunch more posts, I will be called a public servant, when clearly my posts thus far have only been to help myself. I would not be a public servant unless I were more convinced about my religion and was helping others to be more religious. I would be VERY embarrassed to share the same title as the people who have it now - their thoughts are SO worthwhile to ponder... Why not reserve the title of "Public Servant" for those who are actually serving?

I appreciate your feedback. We are currently working on creating new Mazal titles. If you have any suggestions that would also be appreciated.
If not now, when? |

I think that ratings should reflect the number of postings and perhaps, how helpful a given person is. For example, after the first 100 postings a new mazal title, then after 200, then 350, then 500 etc.
