Nice to have you! A great place to learn is the women's seminar, there you can post all your questions and learn from others.
Also, go to the book forum, where you will see reviews on great books and be able to participate in discussions on the books. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Leora, |

We have many Jews in Nigeria but have no Rabbi to assist us. We study the TORAH on our own, and through the help of the internet. We will apriciate any help rendered by anybody. TUDARABA

what issue would there with a noahide defending someone's life ? if you converted than you would no longer be considered a noahide but a full fledged bona-fide jew, who would be OBLIGATED to save his fellow jew if he sees someone trying to harm him. (there are a few restictions on a convert but they only refer to his appointment to certain position of office, NOT to his recognition as a jew and obligation of mitzvot) hassidic jews are just as obligated (and as far as I know commited) to keeping the torah including the commandment to defends one's fellow from harm. I think your question stems from the fact that in general those who are studing torah defer their army service until a later date and in exceptional cases do not ever serve, this in the most part (for the point of this discussion i will ignore those who have halachic issues with the state) is based on the fact that torah study is equaly important to the survival of jewish people, hence they are also fulfilling that mitzva. the exact halachic parameters of this deferment is a subject qhich many rabbis have different opinions about and so different communities practice it in different ways or not at all. |

You might want to consider having a Rabbi that you could talk to and meet in or near your hometown that would actually know you and could help you. The forums on here should NOT replace that which a Local Orthodox Rabbi (LOR) can help you with. The forums on here should be taken with a grain of salt and only use this place for learning purposes and not for actual Halachic reliance. Again, you should find a LOR to help you. If you would like information or websites to help you in finding one, ask here, and me or someone on here will be able to help you, G-d willing. |

SInce when is someone obligated to put himself in harms way to save another person? Isn't Chayecha Kodem? ____________ http://limudtorah.jewishweb.org Please help the Global Yeshiva to continue spreading high quality Torah by sponsoring a Shiur in the "Understanding Mishna Brurah" forum. Shalom to all,
Im very sorry that I haven't log on for the past few months Ive been very busy. But now Im back,Is their any law that prohibits a convert to marry a native Israelite woman or a man. |

A convert is a bona-fide Jew (if done according to halachah). There should'nt be any problem marrying another Jew wether Israeli or a different nationality.

Shalom Sh'muel,
Thank you very much for your answer about my querry regarding a convert marrying a native Israelite.Im a Filipino desiring for conversion but it is the hardest thing to do,here in the Philippines synagogues dont accept conversion. Im a Noahide and wanted to obey all mitzvot in the torah but how?conversion is very expensive. |

Hello Anderson,
You have to find an established Jewish community that supports a Rabbinical Court. It should be orthodox if you want the conversion to be recognized by all denominations of Jews. Your best bet is to look into the Orthodox Jewish community in Sydney. Good Luck. p.s. what counts is sincerety, not money. |

Shalom Shmuel,
toda raba for your suggestion,Ill consider your idea of looking for an Orthodox community for my conversion.Talking of sincerity,Im very much sincere on my desire because.Im very much discontinted of being a Noahide and a gentile, and thats because my Greatgrandparents were Jewish too, they came here as Marranos and I believe that I have a drop of Jewish blood and I need purification.I hope that every Jew must not question the sincerity of a proselyte Shalom velihetraot. |
