It`s written in the holy sefarim that the first chag of the year which is Pesach symbolizes the first of the avot; Avraham Avinu. As we know, Avraham`s prime character trait was chesed--loving kindness. Therefore it follows, that this particular chag will be noted as an expression of Hashem`s midda of chesed. This is clearly seen by the fact that Am Yisroel who had descended to the lowest level of assimilation and tumah, though unworthy were led out of egypt in a great show of miracles, solely on the strength of the loving-kindness of Hashem to the offspring of the holy Avot. Likewise, on the last day of Pesach, when the splitting of the Red Sea occurred, the Midrash says that the level of prophetic vision that a lowly maid-servant attained was higher then the great vision of the ma`aseh markovo that the prophet Yechezkal saw.
On a practical level, we also can attain great heights of vision and spiritual growth during the week-long chag of Pesach, even if we are unworthy and lacking in spirituality; even if we`ve sunken down g-d forbid to the lowest levels of tumah. The loving-kindness of Hashem is infinite, and he will perform miracles for his children, and raise them up, and bring them closer to him.
But in order to take advantage of this pure chesed of Hashem we must create vessels to be able to "catch" the miracle. This vessel is acquired by "tuning-in" to the uniqueness of Pesach which is the practice of the mitzvot particular to this chag. This includes removing and abstaining from chametz, and observing the mitzvot of the seder.

This is a very nice word. What is the source that Pesach symbolizes the first of the avot; Avraham Avinu?

If not now, when?

Dear Rabbi Mitterhoff,
Attached are a few sources in the writtings of Rabenu Zadok. There are earlier sources in Chazal, but I don`t remember them offhand.

Can you copy and paste the information you wish to share? That would make it easier as there is gibberish in the title of the document, and I for one won't click on it. ~ Thank you
