B"H
The following response was provided by Joseph Mosseri: As Rabbi Bar-Sadoq has said there are different minhagim regardim the order of eating of fruits for Tou bishbat. I have been studying the texts of Peri Ess Hadar as printed in numerous countries over the last 300 years and I have discovered this list of fruits to be the most correct. Group number 1 is all fruit. The 10 items are: Grapes or Raisins Figs Apples Etrog(Citron) Kumquat Pear Quince Mulberry Trilobed Sorbus Carob Group 2 outer fruit with a large center pit. The 10 items are: Olive Date Cherry (Must be sweet) Jujube Peach Plum or Prune Apricot Sour Morello Cherry Hawthorn Berry Loquat Group 3 outer peel and inner fruit The 10 items are: Pomegranate Walnut Almond Chestnut Hazelnut Acorn Coconut Pinenuts Pistachio Another nut like Pecan,Brazil,Macadamia or Banana. These are the 30 fruits. Of course you can eat many others as well but you should strive for as many of the above mentioned as possible. Wheat and Barley should also be eaten, usually in the form of cakes, cookies, and Beer! Also 4 cups of wine are drunk. White,Pink,Rose, and Red. Happy Holiday, Joseph Mosseri |
