As you probably all know, today is 15 aw. Someone asked me in shul this morning what it is about. I was ashamed that I was not able to answer this fellow. So I looked it up and i found this gemora in Ta'nis 26b which talks about women going out in white garments trying to find a lover. And then they started singing to them: don't look for good looks, rather for goodness and integrity.
This is one of the explenations given about this holiday. But I am looking for a little more background about this happening. Wow, girls went out to the field and started singing that's why today we don't say tachanun. What's the proper explenation for this? |
