I'm new to this website and to Judaism, finding many good discussions I feel as if there are knowledgable Rabbi's and other members to answer questions I may have. There is a chance that myself and a friend may be away from our community during Rosh HaShana this year, and in a place in which there is no other community of Orthodox Jews. Can 2 people hold a halactic service??

You will need to pray by yourselves. The Torah reading, the repetition of the shemone esre and kaddish all require a minon of 10 men.

If not now, when?

Thank you for the quick reply! Can you please help me figure out what that would look like?

You need to buy a Machzor for Rosh Hashanna(prayer book). I recommend the Artscroll. It is basically self explanatory. You can then write me with more questions.

Thank you so much! I have a Machzor for both Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. I would really like to make sure I'm accustomed to the layout of the service before hand. Thank you for allowing me to ask these question and I feel assured, conforted and not afraid to ask more, if I need it. Shalom!
