Shalom, I would like to try to sum up my complicated situation as briefly as I can, and ask if you have any suggestions or advice... Basically, I have always known myself to be Jewish, however, I have been unable to obtain any proof of my Jewishness... that wasn't previously an issue, but now has become an issue, as there is a man that wants to marry me. (Also, this man is in Israel, and I also wish to make aliyah - actually with Nefesh B'Nefesh in December). Because I have no proof, then it is necessary for me to go to mikvah, and obtain a certificate of Geras. The problem is that my rabbi, where I have been a part of the congregation for over a year, (and I am observant, and understand halacha), has said that it is his policy and that of this Va'ad that any Geras process will take at least one year, regardless of my time at shul... but, both myself, and potential husband are 39 years old, and want to be married as soon as possible, and bez'raat Hashem, have children before we get any older... (and his rabbi doesn't want him to wait a year either)... and I truly believe that this man is my shrosh neshama... Now, my rabbi has said that I have his blessing if I can find anyone/anywhere that can do this faster - he has even said that he will give me a recommendation letter... and, I have been told by others that there may be some way to quickly complete this. Do you know of any way in which to do so? Any assistance that you can offer is greatly appreciated, Shalom U'Vracha, Yedida |

Welcome to the Global Yeshiva! I will contact the Rav in charge of Gerus in Israel under Rav Eliyashiv for you, G-d willing, on Sunday. Isn't there any way for you to prove you are Jewish?
If not now, when? |

Todah rabah for your reply... In answer to your question, no, there is no way to prove my Jewishness (very long story), even though I know that I am... Yedida |

Sorry for the delay. I haven’t forgotten about you. I am having some difficulty contacting the Rabbi who has the list of Rabbis in America.

I have a certificate of mikva , know much classical hebrew, attend conservative synagogue. I need to know that one day I can use my addoption certificate and proof of mikva to one day live in Israel . I cannot prove my Jewishness, as my mother did not practice and I had to find myself , by myself "when" I was facing my "now". Thank you, ruhamah41
