Yocheved, There is a Chabad elementary school there in Houston, perhaps you could look into it. I'm sure that they must have some type of scholarship if that is what you need (we are most grateful for scholarships!). If you would like, I'll ask and get more information about whom to contact for you.

I think that Torah UMesorah has REALLY B"SD good materials. I see that it's available on e-Chinukh here. I liked their charts a lot. I think they also have complete curricula already in "cookbook" form. I've mentioned before that Torah Tapes (718-438-3904) in Brooklyn has both Childrens Stories & Chassidic Tales at $1@. These are EXCELLENT for good hashgafa as well as basically GIVING the parasha to the listener. They also have many other types of tapes, but I feel that they are much more advanced, though also very, very good. For the SECULAR materials, after much research, I think that Vocabulary Connections is a very good programme, INCLUDING THE SOFTWARE (Steck-Vaughn). Their programme teaches vocabulary, syntax, SPELLING (!!!!), writing through chapter themes so the student is focused on content while less consciously learning those areas I just mentioned. I believe I discovered them through Calvert Home Schooling Progamme. They have a very solid basic programme that you can adopt & adapt, if you are adept. They give you their curriculum out of a box per grade after your kids test w/them (I think you can FAX them the results). Follett in Chicago has EXCELLENT prices on USED BOOKS. best, r

In addition to the materials mentioned by the people above, keep in mind that you can make up material by yourself, based on the childrens' levels and interests. Don't let the fact that you may not have a teaching degree scare you. No one knows your children better than you.

Since not all children of the same age have the same interests, strengths, and challenges, perhaps even better-targeted responses could come if we knew more about how many years of learning and what topics were learned, ad language skills; identifying areas of interest, strength, and weakness.
For any subjects where no interesting source has yet been found, perhaps there are alternative ways of getting access to the same material.
