I was talking with someone over shabbos, and she told me that her rav told ehr that she should make a bracha when taking challah for only 8 cups of flour - and mamash she should be separating challah when baking cakes, etc if she uses 2 1/2cups or more. How is it that her rav holds that way? what is behind it?

B"H

Here, in Israel, almost everyone holds the opinion that the dough-portion (Heb. "challah") should be separated from a batch of wheat flour that comes to 1 kilogram and 666 grams in weight. How much this is in American pound-weight... someone will have to help me with this. Smile
