It is true and certain there are many Rishonim who accpted the Rambam and some rejected the RamBam work then still there are some who accpeted but did not desire it to be taught to the masses. Keep in mind the complete and finish copy we now have in our hands perhaps is not the complete and finish copy since we know the rambam correct his mishnah Torah many times never mind the fact the errors that might have crept in. thus we must wonder what editions these rabbis perhaps might have had.

when we read a rabbi talking against RamBam work we must wonder what is that rabbi refering to. for is he refering to all of teh RamBam writtings or merely his guide for the preplex or only the mishnah torah or all of it. for this does make for better understanding.

for example: we can all agree that the guide for the preplex wasn't intended for everyone to read but only for certain people. and if somone disagree then that is what the RamBam write in it. that he wrote it for a friend since he (RamBam) had little time to answer his question. as much this text is not intented for everyone. which he makes clear in his intro.

There is no question there is but one Torah however there are different paths in it.

for example the Kotzer Rebbe thing of Torah was truth and he stress it above all else. there was a friend of the Kotzer rebbe (I don't know who) who accpeted the same Torah but his stress was on Chesed (Kindness) both of these things can be found within the Torah however for the Kotzer Truth was the beganing, middle, and end to serving G-d. whereas the other Rebbe the way of serving G_d was though acts of love and kindness.

Both these men now accpeted the whole Torah and it's practice upon htemselves however they found different paths from each to express their observnce. for example I have two friends both are Baal Tshuva one likes the teachings of Shlomo Carlebach and Chassdius the other wants nothing to really to with it but rather like the teachings of the Gra and those like the Gra. I ask him why he doesn't care to Chassidius he told me clearly that it doesn't appeal to him. which to me hey as long as he is being observent ok as for my other friend who loves Chassidus mostly that appeals to him to be observent in Torah.

now with all this said we learn first and formost there are different paths of Torah means nothing more then one stress one thing over the other but still fullfills the other as required.

the RamBam writtings without question to me should be studied by all expect for one text. which perhaps is what Rav Nachman of Berslov was refering to. this is none other then "the guide".

the RamBam himself states clearly that he wrote the guide for his student who quite clearly had the understanding needed to study the Guide however it was not intended to be study by all people as was the intent of the Mishnah Torah.

the RamBam is not the beganing or the ending of Halkalah and there has been many text before teh RamBam and after the RamBam, one can do well without studying RamBam at all (though one should study him).
