Shalom:

I would like to translate a page from Hamaor from Mosdot Keter Tora y Kolel Maor Abraham Keter Tora, page 42.

Once there was raised a discrepancy between Rav Yivo MiAustria and Rav. Pinjas Mikoritz ZTz´´L.
The argument went on to establish, on this era, what sin was the most common among Am Israel. Rav. Yivo sustained that today, more times than past times, the continuosly occurance of lack of respect to the holy places. The Yehudim talked without restrain in The Bet Hakeneset during tefilot, this misconduct became common and frecuently commited. Rav Pinjas considered that the most worrying sin should be that Yehudim are not taking care of maintaining distance from women outside The Am Israel. Rav Pinjas meant that many merchants went into Goyim houses to sale their merchandise, without being aware of danger of commiting a sin by exposing to unmoral women.

Both weren´t able to agree each one sticked to own concept wihout appealing to let go. Finally, they agreed to settled discrepancy by opening a Jumash and pointing to a random chosen page; Whatever the Pasuk said that would had been the answer to both argument. So that way they do and the Jumash showed Parashat Vayishlaj lines where we read the words of Shimon and Levy (Bereshit XXXIV 31). This phrase was said when Dina ( Iacov daugther) was kidnaped and, afterwards, rescued.

Ah!! arose Rav Pinjas- This gives the pattern that I had given the right reason.
One Moment! Look how the pasuk is translated by Rabi Yonatán ben Uzil and The Targum Yerushalmi!

They went over the pasuk translation and they realized that the remark " as a common woman..." meant The Bet Hakeneset, when the participants of tefilot talked during service, was profanated and humiliated " Jas Veshalom" as puting down a sister...

The Jajamin realized that both were right. and the Am Israel learned that talking during Tefilot in the Bet Hakeneset is an important transgression than it appeared to be in the first place...

(Sipuré jasidim- Vayishlaj)
Hamaor II 5755-5756.

Lej Leshalom

Ps. Wish all happy Chanuka

Shalom Ochoa,
Thank you for bringing to our attention a very serious problem here in the galut. I really don't know where to begin with this one except that chatting during tefilla is an epidemic in our orthodox beit knesset. It seems some come to shul simply for the purpose of gossiping with other men in the back rows. I once had to change my seat because men around me would just talk and talk during tefilla. I cannot go much further without getting myself into lashon hara but it is a problem that needs to be addressed.

P.S. Hanukkah Sameach to you too!
