great message about that we should do what we need to do, even if it's not always enjoyable.

It's true that people in kiruv need to teach first about practicing and have bitachon, but afterwards they also need to teach that the mitzvos are hard, and happiness doesn't come quickly, but if you are determind, then in the long run you'll be happy with your decision.

here's a continuation to the message in that link above.

Excerpt
"When we don’t understand what we’re doing, it can be uncomfortable. We may be plagued by questions and doubts. But by studying the mitzvos, we gain a better appreciation of each one. By studying Torah generally, we gain insight and wisdom, and are better equipped to handle our responsibility to serve G-d and observe His Torah"

I enjoyed the piece. But it's all dependent on how we define pleasure. If we're only looking for instant gratification, it's usually comes at the expense of our long time happiness goals. This is in all areas of life. If we eat unhealthy, we might have the moment (and I mean moment, since seconds after eating nothing remains) pleasure, but then half an hor later we'll feel intigestion, shakey, tired etc. Long term, we'll developt desieses and other health problems.

Simularly, If someone wants to "party" during his educational years and have fun in sted of learning, he has to have the payoff of working harder and longer to make ends meet without much gratification later on.

This list can go on for a long time.

A Torah life, also has this. If one sits and learns, might not enjoy it so much, but the satisfaction afterwards of what he accomplishes afterwards is great. If someone "parties, even at the time he feels great, but kicks himself afterwards of wasting away a day. The same with a whole life of Torah he's proud of what he's done, in his own achievements and for what he done to help the achievements of his children. The other is upset how he wasted his life and has nothing to show for it. Especially this princeple holds true for Olam Habah.

The point, with the right perspective, that whatever is "sweet" for the moment is not what's best for me in the long run, then he can be happy that he's making the right decissions in life and living a fuller and more wholesome and beneficial life.
