Ok, so I have a small raw milk dairy in Texas. Goats, not cows. One of my goats had triplets, and one of them was a doeling that was born weak. Half the birthweight, small in height, and generally lethargic. We babied her and got her a little stronger but she never did well. Within a week she had a very light infection in her eye. which we attributed to a woodchip in her bedding, but being careful with our stock, schlepped her off to the neighboring city of Conroe to the only goat vet around.

Long story short, her eye was a in fact an infection contracted in utero, and therefore the mother of this particular doeling has had to be brought in for testing (even though she is thriving) because she will need to be treated for an infection (we don't know what kind yet) before she is bred again next year, else we will have babies with the same thing. In order to identify the actual infection that the mother herself is evidently immune to, but any future kids will be susceptible to, the veterinarian wishes to perform an "abortion test". I don't know the details, but I am assuming it would include a petrie dish and extracted egg being fertilized to check the embryo for any infection inherited from mom. IS THIS KOSHER?

Am I on Halachic grounds here or should the test be refused and the doctor authorized to only do that testing which does not involve removing her eggs? I have never heard of an abortion test before so have never been faced with this in my life. Come to think of it, I haven't even had one of my goats get sick on me, only labor difficulties at times with which I assist. I don't even know where she would get teh spermatazoa to do the test, as she did not ask me for the buck to be brought in.

I don't see a problem with animals. Though human abortions can be killing, but there is no such prohibition for animals. We allow killing animals for a reason.
