I see there has been a lot of great answers to some of the questions that have been posted recently. The answers were accurate based on my own sources yet there were no sources quoted in the answer. I think it is very important to quotes sources if you have them because it can help to generate more discussion and bring clarity to the issue at hand.
All the best! If not now, when? |

This might be repetition, however citing sources is not suppose to be about "proving your knowledge" because It is a mitzvot to credit your sources (teachers).... see Pirke Avot, and in Torah, Midrash, it speaks of acknowleding your teacher (see Gemora/Ein Yaakov about according kavod to others...). This is also given as a deeper meaning to 'honoring one's father and mother' - specifically the Lubvtchr Rebbe comments in a ma'amar how teacher's are like fathers... and also how HaShem himself is our Father, which therefore makes the act of crediting one's teacher both an act of personal humility (b/c there are no "self-made" men) and an acknowledgemnet of HaShem, because as it is written 'HaShem commanded Moshe, who in turn taught the 70, and kol Yisrael' etc... Stating a reference to a source also demonstrates 'iskafiah' ("subjegation") of one's knowledge to the true source of Emet, and that you honor the mesorah (tradition) of Torah Shebal Peh. At least this is what I learned, (am learning)... todah rabbah. kol tuv.
