I assume you mean Monsey, NY - just over the Tappan Zee Bridge from NYC. If so, that is a heavily Jewish area, so I am surprised you are having difficulty finding a Rabbi. Do you mean you are looking for a Rabbi you can "relate to"? Or perhaps you are first discovering your faith. Either way, I have ideas for you: Ask Jewish people from that area (either who you know or who you can contact from a Jewish community center listed in the Yellow Pages) if they can recommend a rabbi with the qualities you are looking for. Or, use the yellow pages to get the phone numbers of several synagogues in and around Monsey. Ask to speak with the Rabbi at each one. Whether on the phone or in person, explain your situation, ask a few questions, and listen to his feedback. That should give you a feel for each Rabbi's personality. If there are a few you like, do a follow-up. Attend services at his synagogue. Meet/talk with him again. DON'T BE SHY ABOUT APPROACHING EACH RABBI. They LOVE to talk to new people and to be helpful!
I don't live in Monsey myself, so I can't be more specific, but I hope this has helped. I'm sure you'll be successful with your search.
