Two thoughts:
They know that anyone can print off their site. AND They also do not ask anyone not to print, so... I believe it is very safe to assume that there would be no problem for you to print snippets or stories or posters off of their site. You would be doing a z'chus for them to promulgate their message. |

considering that the Asher Yatzar poster is on their web site also in a "high quality print version", it seems they want people to print it.

Kosher Torah websites should actually tell you it is OK to print their stuff, as long as there is an acknowledgement of where it came from.
any website that tries to make money from teaching Torah, is not a kosher site, as far as I am concerned. Asking for a donation is fine, after all, people have to earn parnasa. But it is forbidden to make money from teaching Torah, the knowledge is from Hashem, and it is for everyone. My shule is holding "kabbalah" classes. Each class costs $50 (a one hour class). Ten classes equals $500. This is ridiculous, and I would not learn "kabbalah" from someone like this. (by the way, my shule is orthodox, I was very surprised to see them stoop so low, and try to cash in on a kabbala craze) |

This is not so simple, since there is a concept of Schar Batala (being compensated for teaching where they could have made a living doing something profitable.) Without this Heter (which is brought in SHas) we wouldn't be able to have any teachers in our schools. ____________ http://limudtorah.jewishweb.org Please help the Global Yeshiva to continue spreading high quality Torah by sponsoring a Shiur in the "Understanding Mishna Brurah" forum. most time in dealings with website the issue is using it as your own in the sense of you taking credit for it or you are selling it. how majority of the time there is no problem with using it for your own personal usage for reading or coloring in the pictures. unless stated otherwise which I have never seen in my life.
In all honesty anyone who pays 50 or even 10 a class to learn kabbalah is a well out there. for what can you really learn in such a class sitution of that nature, that you can't get a copy from border books for about 25 dollars. so we shouldn't be so caught up in the shul having someone come in teach kabbalah for outrages fee but rather a shul having kabbalah being taught to any person no matter what their torah observent level is or their torah learning. Rav Chaim This i have not heard perhaps you can direct me to it's place in the Shas? |

Certainly, Kesuvos 105a (paraphrased here from kollel iyun hadaf (l) Karna used to receive a Selah from both parties when he judged a case. (m) Question: But it says, "Don't take a bribe"! 1. Suggestion: Perhaps that is only when a judge takes only from one party, lest his judgment be biased; but Karna took from both parties, so he would be unbiased. 2. Rejection: Even a bribe to give an unbiased judgment is forbidden! i. (Beraisa): "Do not take a bribe" - this cannot mean, with intent to acquit the guilty and convict the innocent - it already says, "Do not pervert judgment"! ii. Rather, bribes are forbidden, even with intent to acquit the innocent and convict the guilty! (n) Answer #1: Karna did not take the money as a bribe, rather as wages. (o) Objection: Even as wages, it is forbidden! 1. (Mishnah): One who receives wages for judging, his judgments are void. (p) Answer: That is one when takes wages for the ruling itself; Karna took compensation for what he could have earned in the time he judged. Teaching Torah and judging has the same Din asthe Mishna before (in Bechoros) lists them together and is the Mekor for both, so the Poskim compare them. ____________ http://limudtorah.jewishweb.org Please help the Global Yeshiva to continue spreading high quality Torah by sponsoring a Shiur in the "Understanding Mishna Brurah" forum.
