When I daven for my family I daven for my husband first and then my children going from oldest to youngest. Only after I've davened for all of them, do I daven for myself.

I noticed that in bentshing, one says אותי
first and only after does he/she daven for his family.

Should I be davening for myself first or my family?

There is a place in Tefillas Shemonah Esreh where the man or woman who is davening can make private requests. This is in the middle of the bracha known as "Shema Koleinu." Here, you are permitted to make any request (supplication) that you like, and it matters very little which order you choose.

I also understand that just before y'hiyu l'rotsohn imrei just before the very end is also an appropriate place for free form reqests to be inserted.

I'm speaking outside of set tefilos - I rarely havethe time to daven and just 'speak to'Hashem throughout the day. I'm busierthan you could imagine with my children - it'sa neis when i get to sit and eat a meal.

So my question is: should I be prioritizing the people on my list- should my husband come first and then my kids and then me last - or should i follow the pattern in bentshing and put my needsfirst.

A side note, I remember learning that one should not do this on Shabbos or Yom Tov.

I always do so this way (doesn't mean it is perfect, only my way):
I pray for teh people in my immediate family IN MOST NEED FIRST, then go down the line. I do this because it hit me once when my daughter was extremely ill, that she should be the first lifted to HaSh-m on that day in my personal prayers, since everyone else was doing perfectly fine. Then I continued praying for the rest of us.
