The Chat was wondeful! The turn out was good and the discussion ended too soon because one Rav had an appointment and the other was in a time zone of 1:30 am. The chat could have easily continued for 3 hours.
So 7:00pm EST Sunday has been designated Torah class every week, until further notice. We discussed a time that would be more compatible with our friends in Eretz Yisrael, but had difficulty establishing a consesus. Perhaps we can resume the discussion with them involved in the exchange. Those who participated were also open to the idea of a Torah Schmooze at the same time everyday during the week. What does that mean? It means that everyday at that time people can meet there and chat about whatever Torah subject. I know that when we are posting, many times we post at different times and we don't get to interact. This is the opportunity to do so. It is openended, without a moderator, but Sam, the moderator, will be there much of the time. Both the Torah Chat Class and the Torah Schmooze are still tentative and can be changed or modified according the the needs of the majority. Shalom |

By The Way,
We've been having Torah Schmooze in the chatroom at 8pm EST almost on a daily basis. Last night we discussed musical instruments on Shabbat and melachot associated with them. A couple of days earlier we discussed wearing a kippa in communitites where Jews are rare. We discussed when to clip our fingernails and toenails according to halacha and/or minhag. We also discussed men and women's garments. These are improptu and they make for interesting discussion from Torah, Gemara, to personal posek from a Gadol etc. Join us...ALMOST EVERYDAY at 8pm EST |
