There are 'giant' humans alive today.
Look up giant in a dictionary. Giant means a huge version of something else. Unusually large for that thing.
The dinosaurs were giants of varying species.
The Axolotl of South America looks just like a miniature green Triceratops. Google it.
Goliath was an extra-large human. The Giant People named in the TaNaKh are people still. Of course they can have kids. However, it is very dangerous/arduous for a small woman to have children by a giant. A giant needs to find a giant/large woman. Just like a dwarf has a hard time having a child by a basketball star. But a dwarf is still a human.

Unfortunately, the translation 'giants' is a big misnomer. We probably use this word because of lack of a better one in the english language.

According to some opinions:
נפילים "Nefillim" is the original hebrew word, which literally means 'fallen ones'. This is because they were angels that fell from heaven, for various reasons, and succumbed to temptation, and married humans. This, of course, means they weren't human.

We also know that Moshe, who was roughly 5 metres tall, jumped 5 metres, and with an axe 5 metres long hit the ankle of Og (the self-same giant from the ark), killing him. You can do the maths for yourselves.....
Someone so tall, is most definitely not merely "a tall human".

How they actually did marry humans is of course still a question.

P.S. Of course all the above is from midrashim, written by chauvinistic, unenlightened men, so I doubt we can trust the veracity of the above mentioned sources..... (refer to: Parshas Shemini (Kosher Pig / Teshuva))

1. the Maharshah explains that we are talking about moshe's midot (level of moral integrety) and not his actual height in the midrash in the battle with Og.
2. Although it is very common in dogs and cows that the fetus is too large and there is high maternal mortality because the sire was much bigger than the mother, I am not familiar with similar situations for humans. This is probably because being a human giant is not a genetic characteristic but the result of an overactive pituitary.
3. For those people who love to make up theories about these things, Goliath was a pituitary giant and therefore had tunnel vision. He therefore could not see David throwing his slingshot.
4. In any event, David was using unconvential weapons against the poor Philistine...

Anyhow, the Me'am Lo'ez seems to have taken it literally.....
Though he takes a lot of things very literally.

Although Meom Loez documents his sources, his use of sources is uncritical. He quotes from dubious midrashic sources as well as solid ones without differentiating. However, I was a little bit puzzled by your remark. The Meom Loez simply records the midrash as is without any commentary.

Who are these "chauvinistic, unenlightened men" that you are referring to?

Sorry about that remark. I was a bit upset by how certain people refered to our Rabbanim, and in a rash bout of sarcasm said that. That's why I said (refer to: Parshas Shemini (Kosher Pig / Teshuva)). It was not meant to be taken literally!

I think he's being facetious to answering Hawke's comments. If anyone sees Hawke's profile, they will answer where she's coming from
