in day two of the reading rashi comments on verse 17 of chapter 23.
And Ephron's Field Stood. "It had an ascension, in that it left the possession of a commoner for the poession of a king"

nu, so what is bother rashi? what is bothering rashi is the hebrew. for it says VaYaKam SDeH Efron etc. "and the field of Efron that was in Machpelah that was facing Mamra arose". so how can a field accend?

there is a story to this effect. Last year there was a black out when i was with my Beloved for two weeks. and we tried to find a flash light but couldn't find one so we lite a few shabbos candles. which was nice. when shabbos came B"H we had lights again. yet she 18min before lite the two shabbos candles and said the Blessing over them.

now my friends the shabbos candle is still a candle nothing to holy about it. yet the moment she said a blessing over the candle elvated this to a shabbos candle and to somthing holy.

thus it is this way with money, cars, house, and everything in this world. for the word for world is Olam , and Lam means conceal. what is being conceal is the potenial of holinses being reveal. and it is up to us to evlate to they it may be revealed.

this is the meaning of rashi when he say "it had an ascension when it left the hands of a commoner and enter the hands of a king [Avraham]". it was evlated in the sense of being used for holiness.

good shabbos
