we learn in Betzah Ch. 2 of Ein Yacov that there are two ways of getting ready for shabbos.
thus will raise the following questions. The House of Shammai say "Prepare from every day for shabbat" the House of Hillel says "Praise HaShem Day by Day" |

Amazing, Mack, because I'm learning Beitzah right now, and I'm at that point. If one of the rabbis want to correct me that's fine; they have much more knowledge than me. However, here goes:
Beis Hillel had more bitachon than Beis Shamai, and we should try to emulate them; however, for practical reasons, the everyday Jew should try to do as Beis Shamai, as it's difficult to develop trust on the level of Beis Hillel. Incidently, do we really have this problem in 21st century America? Because today, unlike in the days of the Mishnah, we have so many choices in our markets. We can go any day of the week and find something suitable for Shabbos, and not only suitable, prime cuts of meats. Everyday fish markets have fresh fish. Theoretically one could shop on Friday morning and find whatever they needed to sanctify Shabos with beauty. And this is my first post. |

Michael;
What you said is exactly the explanation given by the Chofetz Chaim in the Mishna Berurah! |
