I started reading the Yalkut Meam Loez awhile ago and i love it - it is all midrashim - a coupla questions - is every midrash true - for example - he says that there were 7 earths - one called Nashiya - with little people with 2 holes in their head or Keinan(one of Adams descendants) is buried on an island in the Indian Ocean and hhe has tombstone there ? - also How do these Midrashim come about?

Maom Loaz is not exactly what can be termed scholarship. He does not descriminate between authentic and dubious sources. However he does give the source for each midrash, if it looks strange, look up the source to see if it is a regular midrash, e.g. tanchumah, midrash rabah. If it something you never heard of or clearly kabalistic source, you will have to do some research to determine its provenance.
