in this week study it is said "and Avraham bowed before the people of the land for the children of Het."
in the later we read "and Avraham bowed before the people of the land" maybe my question is silly though i am curious, why did the torah stress the children of Het earlier and later it leaves them out? if you say, so we know who he is dealing with it is already stated. Gensis 23:7 & Gensis 23:12 thanks for any help |

The first time it was mentioned is to point out that this coucil of men represented the Bnei Cheis. Therefore this info did not have to be repeated the next time they were mentioned

shalom, this is an good tranlation, in fact it is the same that The Sapirstein edition of rashi tranalte "the people of the land"
however why is it we tranlate it this way in this palce and differently without the mention of "to the children of Heth"? which i didn't realize because the first was out of respect for the both. the later was only towards "the people of the land" for it is written "He spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land saying" nu, so what is this compare to. a man was ask a question by Lot, concerning what he thought on somthing. he told Lot the answer. yet the people began telling the man to say somthing else. so the man said to the people my friends "But if only you would listen to my answer you know what i thought on the matter. so it is in this case. the children of Het understand and press no more however the people of the earth contuine to press Avraham Avinu. |
