Once upon a time, the armies of Pharo were drowned in the sea. Today, those who torment us so, are drowned in a sea of sewage. I couldn't write a better script than that. HaShem has a great sense of humor.

Here's a very telling quote from http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070327/wl_mideast_afp/palestinianaccident:

quote:
Newly appointed interior minister Hani al-Qawasmeh rushed to the scene to inspect the damage, but angry villagers chased him off. They opened fire on his convoy and wounded two policemen, witnesses said.

These are zombies. They want to die.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070327/ap_on_re_mi_ea/gaza_sewage_flood_8
quote:
Fadel Kawash, head of the Palestinian Water Authority, said the sewage level had risen in the reservoir in recent days. Shepard said the earthen embankments also had been weakened by rain.

But Gaza City Mayor Majid Abu Ramadan, who leads a council of Gaza municipalities, blamed the collapse on lawlessness in the Gaza Strip, accusing residents of stealing the dirt and selling it to building companies for $70 a truckload.

They are not zombies. They are viruses. They destroy their own habitat and die with it.

quote:
A 2004 U.N. report warned that the sewage facility, built for a population of 50,000, was handling waste from 190,000 people, and flooding was inevitable. It warned that the lake created by the overflow from the seven basins posed a serious health hazard, providing a breeding ground for mosquitoes and waterborne diseases.

D'uh!
quote:
Shepard said that since the report was published, international funding for a new plant had been secured but construction could not proceed because of security risks in the area.

Too many guns, too few brains.

quote:
An internal World Bank document obtained by The Associated Press said the Palestinian Authority decided in 2003 to dump partially treated excess waste into the ocean, but Israel vetoed the idea.

Thank G-d at least somebody was thinking about the rest of the world!

quote:
]Umm Naser is about 300 yards from the border with Israel, in an area where Palestinians have frequently launched rockets into Israel and Israeli artillery and aircraft have fired back. The situation worsened after Hamas-linked militants captured an Israeli soldier last June in a cross-border raid, and Israel responded by invading northern Gaza.

Avi, I agree. It does look like Hashem's vengeance.

"The governor of north Gaza, Ismail Abu Shammala, said the problems started 15 to 20 years ago while Gaza was under direct Israeli occupation."
END QUOTE

Yeah, yeah, it is all Yisrael's fault; isn't it always? Whatever. By the way, I think it is interesting that it says that the problems "started" under Yisrael's "direct" occupation. In other words, there was no problem until we left and they took over "control" (if that is what you can call what they are doing). Roll Eyes

Did you mean to say that he who levels refuse over Israel will also be leveled by refuse?

haha! No, that was not the intended meaning-- it is a tag reflecting shared wisdom, in keeping with the spirit of this forum... but in this case, it seems to have multiple meanings! I like your take on it in this context.

Some people were marching accross a bridge which collapsed and the fell into the small Yarkon river. However, the river was so polluted, they died from being in the river. The contract for was 20,000 dollars but the contracting agent gave it to another contracting agent who gave to another contracting agent who built it out of spare wood for 3000 dollars. It receive all the approvals from all three company engineers and the city. They just didn't mention that it could only carry three people instead of the fourty people it was suppose to carry.
This is the middle east. Get use to it.
Unless you think HaShem punishes Australian Jews because they celebrate Channukah in their Summer.
