I was looking at the English portion of an Israeli web site, and the word "amuta" was used. It is obviously a transliterated Hebrew word. The word was also used in its plural form, "amutot".

I would like to know what it means? Thanks for your help.

The word, "Amuta" (Heb. עמותה) means in English, "non-profit organisation."
I do not know what the source of this word is, but it would seem to me to be derived from the Hebrew word "Amith" (Heb. עתית), meaning "friend" or "companion."

Sincerely,
David
